Material and Size Guide

14K or 18K Gold/Silver Plated Brass/Cupronickel

At Dazz+, we care about you, your feeling and your comfort.

We only offer high quality of brass/cupronickel and plated with real gold or real silver. Gold or silver plating layer can cover up the core material, protect it as an inert layer, and provide a soft touch on our skin.

However, this plating layer can be worn as time goes by. Higher frequency of use and in contact with skincare/cosmetics/chemicals/sweat/sea water can also play a role in fading.

Stainless Steel 301

Stainless steel is a commonly used material in jewelleries. Stainless steel is a strong material, and it is ususally not coated with other materials, such as silver or gold. Stainless steel can withstand most daily activities without corrosion and scratches. Additionally, stainless steel do not tarnish, so it looks good even with minimal maintenance.

Stainless steel is usually more afforadable than other jewelleries made with valuable metals. On the other hand, some people might experience skin irritation or skin allergy casued by a few components in stainless steel 301.

Surgical Steel (Stainless Steel 304, 306)

Surgical Steel is a specific type of stainless steel, with different combination and percentage of components. Surgical steel is commonly used in scalpel blade, and that is where it gets the name from. Surgical steel is less likely to cause skin allergy, so this material is recommended for sensitive skin.

Sterling Silver (S925, 925 Silver) 92.5% Silver

Sterling Silver, S925 or 925 Silver is a common material to jewelleries. Pieces made with sterling silver usually mean lower possibility to skin allergy. If you have sensitive skin, surgical steel and sterling silver are highly recommended.

Fine Silver (S990, 990 Silver) 99% Silver

Fine Silver, S990 or 990 Silver means this jewellery piece contains 99% silver, slightly higher than sterling silver. It’s usually associated with higher price tags. Higher purity is not always better. Finding the right thing for you is more important.

Pure Silver (S999, 999 Silver) 99.99% Silver

Pure Silver, S999, or 999 Silver means nearly pure silver (99.99% silver). Some tools or machines made with other materials can be used during manufacture, so S999 is the right presentation to pure silver on jewelleries.

14K Gold Plated, 18K Gold Plated, 24K Gold Plated

24K gold is pure gold. The purity of gold used in plating has nothing relevant to the lasting time of colours on jewellery pieces, and it is less likely to be relevant to the possibility of skin allergy. The purity of gold used in manufacture, however, decides the colour of jewellery pieces. 14K gold gives jewellery pieces a nice light sense of golden colour, while 24K gold plating applies a more intensive gold colour on jewelleries.

We are very sorry to hear about your condition and your concern. It is certainly not your problem. Everyone deserves to enjoy the joy of dressing up.

Although using certain materials do not guarantee no allergy, it can certainly reduce the possibility to get skin irratation.

Here are some tips from us, and we hope you find them helpful.

  1. Choose jewellery pieces from hypoallergenic collection. They are made of surgical steel and higher purity of silver (sterling silver and above). Try to avoid alloy, copper and nickel.
  2. Use clip-on earrings instead of traditional earrings. Clip-on earrings are friendly to non-pierced ears, too. Ear is usually the most sensitive part compare to other body parts due to thinner skin and smaller contact area. Clip-on earrings only attach to the surface of skin, which can reduce the possibility to get skin irritation.
